Pinterest jako odlišná sociální síť: Analýza každodennosti, genderových reprezentací a uživatelského prožívání vizuální inspirace

Abstract

This bachelor thesis analyzes the Pinterest platform as a specific visual space within the context of digital everyday life and gender representations. While dominant social media are associated with performative self-presentation and social comparison in academic discourse, Pinterest presents itself as an introspective tool for visual aspiration and self-development. The thesis examines how interface design and algorithmic mechanisms frame user experience and what norms of aesthetic perfectionism they construct. Methodologically, the thesis is based on a qualitative research design in the form of an algorithmic audit in a tabula rasa state, complemented by a multimodal discourse analysis of a selected sample of fifty pins from the most searched categories. The theoretical framework consists of platform studies, the concept of algorithmic power, and the theory of gender scripts. The results of the analysis reveal the existence of algorithmic pressure for perfection, manifested through a high degree of visual sterility and the systematic displacement of procedural reality and labor. Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá analýzou platformy Pinterest jako specifického vizuálního prostoru v kontextu digitální každodennosti a genderových reprezentací. Zatímco dominantní sociální sítě jsou v odborném diskurzu spojovány s performativní sebeprezentací a sociálním srovnáváním, Pinterest se profiluje jako introspektivní nástroj pro vizuální aspiraci a seberozvoj. Práce zkoumá, jakým způsobem design rozhraní a algoritmické mechanismy rámují uživatelské prožívání a jaké normy estetického perfekcionismu konstruují. Metodologicky práce vychází z kvalitativního výzkumného designu v podobě algoritmického auditu ve stavu tabula rasa, doplněného o multimodální diskurzivní analýzu vybraného vzorku padesáti pinů z nejvyhledávanějších kategorií. Teoretický rámec tvoří studia platforem, koncept algoritmické moci a teorie genderových skriptů. Výsledky analýzy odhalují existenci algoritmického tlaku na dokonalost, který se projevuje vysokou mírou vizuální sterility a systematickým vytěsňováním procesní reality i lidské námahy.
