Mediální reprezentace zločinců a obětí v podcastu Opravdové zločiny

Abstract

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the media representation of victims and criminals in the Czech true crime podcast Opravdové zločiny. The main aim of the thesis is to analyze how the podcast represents victims and criminals, what stereotypical narratives the authors use in their storytelling, and how the podcast approaches criminal cases. The thesis is based on the theory of the Social Construction of Reality, Semiotics, and Representation Theory. It deals in detail with the concept of Nils Christie's ideal victim, the criminal stereotype, and ethics in the true crime genre. The methodological section of the thesis presents the planned analysis procedure, explains the method of selecting the analyzed sample, and sets out research questions. In the analytical part, two purposefully selected stories from the podcast are subjected to qualitative semiotic analysis. The research shows that the representation of victims and criminals in the podcast is biased and subject to experienced frames. These lead to favoring victims who meet the ideal and neglecting non-ideal ones. The analysis also revealed the occurrence of problematic narratives, such as blaming victims or, conversely, justifying crimes. Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na způsob mediální reprezentaci obětí a zločinců v českém true crime podcastu Opravdové zločiny. Hlavním cílem práce je analyzovat, jak podcast oběti a zločince reprezentuje, jaké stereotypní narativy autorky při vyprávění používají a jak podcast přistupuje ke kriminálním případům. Práce se zakládá na teorii Sociální konstrukce reality, Sémiotice a Teorii reprezentace. Detailně se věnuje konceptu ideální oběti Nilse Christieho, stereotypu zločince a etice v žánru true crime. V metodologické části práce představuje plánovaný postup analýzy, objasňuje způsob výběru analyzovaného vzorku a stanovuje výzkumné otázky. V analytické části jsou dva účelově vybrané příběhy z podcastu podrobeny kvalitativní sémiotické analýze. Z výzkumu vyplývá, že reprezentace obětí a zločinců v podcastu je neobjektivní a podléhá zažitým rámcům. Ty vedou k favorizaci obětí, které ideál splňují a k opomíjení těch neideálních. Analýza také odhalila výskyt problematických narativů, jako je obviňování obětí nebo naopak ospravedlňování zločinů. Dalším zjištěním je zlehčování tragických osudů a znehodnocení obětí. K tomu dochází skrze snahu o zábavnou formu vyprávění.
