Moderní technologie v podpoře a péči o seniory

Abstract

This thesis examines modern and assistive technologies in the support and care of older adults in the context of an aging population and a staffing crisis in social services. The theoretical section maps out the spectrum of technologies, ranging from social robots to Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) systems, and analyzes ethical issues related to privacy, autonomy, and the threat of dehumanization in care. The practical section utilizes quantitative research involving 96 respondents and, through an innovative narrative model featuring Mrs. Marie, examines the specific attitudes of older adults toward these tools. The aim of the thesis is to identify the main benefits and barriers of these technologies and to explore their potential for supporting older adults in remaining in their home environment. The results confirm that seniors perceive technology as a useful supplement to care if it helps them maintain independence, but they consider the high purchase price and fear of complicated operation to be the main obstacles. At the end of the thesis, I conclude that no technology can replace human contact and empathy.

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá moderními a asistivními technologiemi v podpoře a péči o seniory v kontextu stárnutí populace a personální krize v sociálních službách. Teoretická část mapuje spektrum technologií od sociálních robotů po systémy chytrých domácností (AAL), rozebírá etické otázky spojené se soukromím, autonomií a hrozbou dehumanizace péče. Praktická část využívá kvantitativní výzkum u 96 respondentů a pomocí inovativního modelového příběhu paní Marie zjišťuje konkrétní postoje seniorů k těmto nástrojům. Cílem práce je identifikovat hlavní přínosy i bariéry technologií a prozkoumat jejich potenciál pro podporu setrvání seniorů v domácím prostředí. Výsledky zde potvrzují, že senioři vnímají technologie jako užitečný doplněk péče, pokud jim pomáhají udržet nezávislost, ale za hlavní překážku považují vysokou pořizovací cenu a obavu ze složitého ovládání. Práce v závěru konstatuje, že žádná technologie nedokáže nahradit lidský kontakt a empatii.
