Ódin a Freya: Jejich role v severské mytologii a odkaz v kultuře

Abstract

This bachelor's thesis, entitled Odin and Freya: Their Role in Norse Mythology and Legacy in Culture, focuses on two important figures of the Norse divine pantheon, Odin and Freya. The thesis examines their significance not only in the mythological framework, but also in the legacy they carry in contemporary culture. In the introduction, the reader is introduced to the basic historical and cultural contexts of Viking society, which is the most important for this mythology, including the classification of myths and the specifics of Norse mythology. This is followed by an analysis of key mythological works, especially the Elder Edda and the Younger Edda, and their role in conveying and preserving knowledge about Norse religion. The middle part of the thesis is then devoted to the gods themselves, Odin and Freya - their characteristics, stories, and significance within the broader divine community of the Æsir and Vanir. The next section examines how Norse mythology has been reflected in modern culture, specifically in literature (e.g. in the works of J. R. R. Tolkien), music (especially in the work of the band Wardruna), and film (the series Vikings). Tato bakalářská práce s názvem Ódin a Freya: Jejich role v severské mytologii a odkaz v kultuře se zaměřuje na dvě významné postavy severského božského panteonu, kterými jsou Ódin a Freya. Práce sleduje, jaký význam měly nejen v mytologickém rámci, ale taktéž jaký odkaz nesou v současné kultuře. V úvodu práce je čtenář seznámen se základními historickými a kulturními souvislostmi vikingské společnosti, která je pro tuto mytologii společností nejpodstatnější,včetně klasifikace mýtů a specifik severské mytologie. Poté následuje analýza klíčových mytologických děl, zejména Starší Edddy, Mladší Eddy a jejich role ve zprostředkovávání a uchování znalostí o severském náboženství. Střední část práce je pak věnována samotným bohům, Ódinovi a Freye - jejich charakteristice, příběhům a významu v rámci širšího božského společenství Ásů a Vanů. V další části je sledováno, jak se severská mytologie promítla do moderní kultury, konkrétně do literatury (např. v díle J. R. R. Tolkiena), hudby (zejména v tvorbě skupiny Wardruna) a filmu (seriál Vikingové). Poslední kapitola pak zkoumá jak Freya, jako archetyp silné ženy, jakým způsobem mohla ovlivnit vnímání ženských rolí v dnešní společnosti.
