Mezi bydlením a vlastnictvím: Perspektivy restituentů v kontextu současného pražského nájemního bydlení

Abstract

The thesis focuses on the ways in which owners of restituted apartment buildings in Prague construct and interpret their identities in relation to ownership. The aim of the research is to understand how these actors legitimize their position, what meanings they attribute to property, and how they negotiate its moral and social implications in the context of the contemporary housing situation in Prague. The study is based on a qualitative research strategy using semi-structured interviews with restitution owners and their successors. The analysis draws on approaches to narrative identity and theories of moral economy. The findings show that ownership of restituted buildings is constituted as a social and moral position. The identity of owners is neither uniform nor self- evident, but is shaped through various narrative repertoires that emphasize care, work, merit, and gratitude. These forms of self-presentation function as means of legitimizing ownership and allow actors to navigate tensions between inheritance and individual merit. At the same time, these narratives are closely connected to the material characteristics of the buildings themselves, their historical value, and their location. Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na způsoby, jakými vlastníci restituovaných bytových domů v Praze utvářejí a interpretují svou identitu v souvislosti s vlastnictvím. Cílem výzkumu je porozumět tomu, jak tito aktéři legitimizují své postavení, jaké významy přikládají majetku a jak se vyrovnávají s jeho morálními a sociálními implikacemi v kontextu současné bytové situace v Praze. Práce vychází z kvalitativní výzkumné strategie založené na polostrukturovaných rozhovorech s restituenty a jejich následovníky. Analýza je inspirována přístupy narativní identity a teoriemi morální ekonomie. Výsledky ukazují, že vlastnictví restituovaných domů je utvářeno jako sociální a morální pozice. Identita vlastníků není jednotná ani samozřejmá, ale je utvářena prostřednictvím různých narativních repertoárů, které zdůrazňují zejména péči, práci, zásluhu či vděčnost. Způsoby sebeprezentace slouží jako prostředky legitimizace vlastnictví a umožňují aktérům vyvažovat napětí mezi dědictvím a individuální zásluhou. Zároveň se ukazuje, že tyto narativy jsou úzce propojeny s materiálními charakteristikami samotných domů, jejich historickou hodnotou a lokalitou.
