Přidání železa, fosforu a síry dále zvýšilo růst olše, což naznačuje, že dostupnost živin v interakci s mikrobiálními symbionty a ovlivňuje růst rostlin. Plant-soil feedback experiment prokázal převážně negativní zpětnou vazbu u druhů bylin přizpůsobených ranému a střednímu stadiu sukcese, přičemž rostlinný...
Reclamation of post-mining landscapes is dependent on the establishment of vegetation which is connected to soil development, nutrient accumulation, and full ecosystem recovery. Through multiple small scale, laboratory and field large scale experiments, this work examines the relative importance of soil age, nutrient availability, microbial inoculation, and plant-soil feedback for plant growth and soil development. Two studies were focused on alder (Alnus glutinosa) and its interaction with nitrogen- fixing symbionts. Our study confirms that alder growth may be limited in young post- mining soils due to either adverse soil conditions or the absence of microbial symbionts, where symbionts, namely bacteria of the genus Frankia, had larger effect than soil development. Addition of iron, phosphorus, and sulfur further enhanced alder growth, indicating that nutrient availability interacts with microbial symbionts to determine plant performance. Conversely, elevated nitrogen supply suppressed both alder growth and Frankia tuber formation, suggesting that excessive nitrogen can inhibit symbiotic nitrogen fixation and slow alder's establishment in post-mining sites. Plant-soil feedback experiment demonstrated predominantly negative feedback among early- and mid-succession species of herbaceous plants, with...
