Abstract

This thesis approaches the Qur'an, the holy scripture of Islam, with the question of the relationship between religions, communities, and people of different faiths. How do Qur'anic texts understand the diversity of religious traditions? In what ways do they relate to people standing outside the original community of the Prophet Muhammad? How do they understand and conceptualise this relationship towards others? These questions inform the thesis, which, in the first chapter, methodologically examines the Qur'an in its various roles in the contemporary world, defining the approach that is taken by this thesis. The second chapter then elaborates on the question of inter-community relations: How does the relationship between the two sides manifest itself, and how can it be understood? Since in such a relationship, there is often a tendency to delineate the parties and to distinguish one party from the other by emphasising mutual differences and otherness, the thesis helps itself by developing the concept of othering. Tato práce přistupuje ke Koránu, svatému písmu islámského náboženství, s otázkou po vztahu mezi náboženstvími, komunitami, lidmi odlišné víry, náboženského vyznání. Jak koránské texty rozumějí diverzitě náboženských tradic? Jakým způsobem se vztahují k druhým lidem stojícím mimo prvotní obec proroka Muhammada? Jak chápou a konceptualizují tento vztah vůči druhým? Tyto otázky uvozují práci, která v první kapitole metodologicky uchopuje Korán v jeho rozličných rolích v současném světě, aby se vymezila cesta, jakým způsobem bude práce s koránskými texty pracovat. Druhá kapitola pak rozpracovává onu otázku po mezikomunitních vztazích. Jak se vůbec vztah mezi dvěma stranami projevuje, jak jej chápat? Jelikož se v takovém vztahu často objevují tendence po vymezování jednotlivých stran a odlišování jedné strany vůči druhé na základě zdůrazňování vzájemných odlišností, vzájemné jinakosti, pomáhá si práce rozvržením konceptu jinakování (ang. othering). Analýza tohoto konceptu, jak se ve vztahu mezi dvěma stranami projevuje, na jakém logickém argumentu je postaven a jak jej lze případně také nabourávat, dekonstruovat a překračovat, tvoří základ, s kterým práce přistupuje ke koránským textům a ptá se, jak se v nich procesy jinakování a vztah k druhým, nábožensky odlišným komunitám, projevuje.
