Užití historie jako zdroje pro populární televizi - srovnání české a britské verze reality pořadu Zrádci

Abstract

This thesis investigates how producers of the reality show The Traitors use historical narratives and elements. In theoretical part it focuses on the definition of the reality TV genre, its division into subgenres and history. For this it uses predominantly the works of Misha Kavka and Annette Hill. It also focuses on the use of history in audiovisual production. Here it uses especially the works of Robert A. Rosenstone and Ann Grey and Erin Bell as well as Julia Anne Taddeo and Ken Dvorak. The analytical part of the thesis consists of thematic content analysis of two series of the show The Traitors, one Czech and one British. Each of these series contains twelve episodes and, as of 2024, the two were the most recent completed series of the show in each country. The aim of the analysis is to determine how the show works with historical elements and narratives, how they influence the dramatic structure of the show, and also how the work with historical elements and narratives differs in individual versions of the show. The thesis focuses primarily on visual historical elements such as locations, decorations, individual props and costumes, but also on the symbolism used in the narrative that is built upon the past. Diplomová práce zkoumá, jakým způsobem producenti pořadu Zrádci pracují s historickými narativy a prvky. V teoretické části se zabývá vymezením žánru reality TV, jeho dělením a historií. K tomu využívá převážně děl Mishy Kavky a Annette Hill. Stejně tak se zabývá využitím historie v audiovizuální tvorbě. Zde vychází zejména z práce Roberta A. Rosenstona a Ann Grey a Erina Bella stejně jako Julie Anne Taddeo a Kena Dvoraka. Analytickou část práce pak tvoří tematická obsahová analýza jedné české a jedné britské série pořadu Zrádci. Každá z těchto sérií obsahuje dvanáct dílů a v roce 2024 se jednalo o nejnovější dokončené série pořadu v obou zemích. Cílem analýzy je zjistit jednak to, jak pořad pracuje s historickými prvky a narativy a jak ovlivňují dramatickou výstavbu pořadu, a také to, jak se práce s historickými prvky a narativy v jednotlivých verzích pořadu liší. Práce se zaměřuje především na vizuální historické prvky, jako jsou lokace, dekorace, jednotlivé rekvizity a kostýmy, ale i na narativem využívané symboliky, které vycházejí z minulosti. Tato práce tak nabízí zajímavý pohled na to, jak jeden ze současných fenoménů reality TV pořadů pracuje s vizuální reprezentací minulosti a historickou symbolikou a jak se tyto prvky projevují v herním prostředí reality TV pořadu.
