Semantische theorien und ihre anwendung in der lexikografischen explikation der bedeutung

Abstract

Účelem práce je popsat hlavní teorie jazykového významu od 19. st. až do současnosti a vyzkoumat, jak tyto teorie ovlivňují nebo jak jsou aplikovány na popis významu v jednojazyčných slovnících. Cílem je shrnout koncepce sémantiky nejen v lingvistice, nýbrž i v analytické filozofii a vyhodnotit jak slovníky německé, tak anglickojazyčné. Sledována je tradiční lexikografie a moderní verze lexikografie - tzv. kognitivní a korpusová lexikografie. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí. V teoretické části jsou popsány jen teorie významu. V lexikografické části jsou na konkrétních definicích z citovaných slovníků doloženy jednotlivé aspekty sémantických teorií pojednaných v části teoretické. Práce dochází k závěru, že teorie významu v lingvistice a filozofii úzce souvisí s podobou lexikografických definic. Výsledné konstatování je, že užívání tradičních slovníkových definic - tzv. aristotelských definic - souvisí s tradičním pojetím jazyka, který je založen na předpokladu, že formy a jejich syntax, obsah forem (vlastní význam), a užívání forem (jejich kontext) jsou tři autonomní entity. Korpusová lexikografie orientující výklad významu na kontext užití čerpá z funkčně orientované lingvistiky a z pragmaticky orientované analytické filozofie. The purpose of the thesis is to describe main semantic theories from the 19th century until present and to investigate their application in the description of meaning in monolingual dictionaries. The aim is to include theories that have been formulated in both linguistics and analytical philosophy, and to consider German as well as English dictionaries. Considered is traditional and cognitive lexicography as well as corpus lexicography. The theoretical part of the thesis comprises only semantic theories. Their relation to definitions in monolingual dictionaries is investigated in the practical part of thesis. The conclusion is that the format of lexicographical definitions is closely related to specific theory of meaning. The traditional format of defining meaning - the Aristotelian definition - that is used in traditional lexicography is based on the traditional conception of language. On this account, language comprises of three autonomous levels: form, content, and usage. A rather narrative format of definition is used in corpus lexicography. This model draws on semantic theories offered by pragmatically minded analytical philosophers and by functional linguists.
