Abstract

Communication about end-of-life matters is one of the crucial ethical topics as it touches upon fundamental human values, such as respect for human life and the dignity of each individual. Although discussing the end of life is neither easy nor common, research shows that seniors are interested in opening and discussing this topic. The card game Řekni mi, from 2021, responds to the social stigmatization and complexity of communication about death, funerals, and important decisions in the final days. The game's goal is to help people, through socially interactive game, start discussing important life questions and discuss values and wishes related to the end of life. This thesis will address why it is essential to discuss these topics at the end of life and what ethical dilemmas arise. Furthermore, through the analysis of questions in the Řekni mi game, it will describe which topics are the most crucial and why. Komunikace o posledních věcech je jedním z důležitých etických témat, jelikož se dotýká základních lidských hodnot, jako je respekt k životu a důstojnost každého jedince. Přestože závěr života není snadným a běžným konverzačním prvkem, výzkumy ukazují, že senioři mají zájem toto téma otevírat a diskutovat. Konverzační karetní hra Řekni mi, z roku 2021, reaguje na společenskou stigmatizaci a složitost komunikace o smrti, pohřbu, a důležitých rozhodnutích v posledních dnech. Cílem hry je pomáhat lidem společenskou formou otevírat důležité životní otázky a diskutovat nad tématy hodnot a přání v souvislosti se závěrem života. Tato diplomová práce se bude zabývat otázkou proč je důležité tato témata v závěru života diskutovat a jaká etická dilemata se nám zde otvírají.
