Abstract

This bachelor thesis examines the effect the gender of candidates has on their attaining of realistic list positions within party lists for parliamentary elections in the Czech Republic. In the theoretical part, this paper describes the selected theory of political representation and entry barriers in politics. The disadvantage women face during the drawing-up of party lists is a key theme of this paper. The analytical part of this paper examines the "Czech Political Candidate and Donation Dataset. "Analysis focuses on the 2010, 2013, 2017 and 2021 Parliamentary Elections, where only parties which succeeded in winning seats in the Chamber of Deputies are subject to analysis. Frequency analysis and binary logistic regression are used to answer two primary research questions: whether there has been any change in the influence gender has on candidates' position on party lists since 2010, and whether this influence differs among the analysed political parties. Results show that the effect of gender on candidates' list position was only statistically significant in the 2010 Election, but not in subsequent years. Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá vlivem pohlaví kandidátů na realistické umístění na kandidátních listinách v parlamentních volbách v České republice. V teoretické části se práce věnuje představení vybrané teorie spojené s politickou reprezentací a bariérami pro vstup do politiky. Klíčovým tématem práce jsou nerovné šance žen v procesu sestavování kandidátních listin. Ve výzkumné části práce je analyzován datový soubor Czech Political Candidate and Donation Dataset. Analýza se zaměřuje na čtyři parlamentní volby v letech 2010,2013,2017 a 2021. Zahrnuty jsou pouze strany, které se dostaly do Poslanecké sněmovny. Pomocí frekvenční analýzy a binární logistické regrese jsou testovány dvě hlavní výzkumné otázky, zda se vliv pohlaví na umístění na kandidátní listině proměňuje od roku 2010, a zda se vliv pohlaví liší u zkoumaných politických stran. Výsledky ukazují, že statisticky signifikantní byl vliv pohlaví na realistické umístění sledován pouze v roce 2010 a v dalších letech (2013,2017 a 2021) již nebyl statisticky signifikantní. Z analýzy dále vyplývá, že se vliv pohlaví na realistické umístění mezi zkoumanými stranami liší.
