Dystopie dans les œuvres de J.D. Kurtness et de Christiane Vadnais

Abstract

in English The bachelor's thesis will explore the dystopian worlds depicted in Aquariums by J. D. Kurtness and Faunes by Christiane Vadnais, two contemporary Quebec authors whose narratives challenge conventional notions of the end of humanity and civilization. The aim of this paper will be to explore how these two writers depart from traditional dystopian narratives. First, we will introduce the genre of dystopia and its key features from a literary historical perspective. We will then introduce the writers and the contemporary theoretical framework that includes ecocriticism, the post-Anthropocene, and Abhumanism. In the practical part, we will analyze and compare the two works mentioned in order to define the different elements that depart from or, on the contrary, meet the traditional narrative resources and themes of dystopia. The thesis will also focus on the position of man in relation to nature.

v českém jazyce Bakalářská práce se bude zabývat dystopickými světy zachycenými v dílech Aquariums od J. D. Kurtness a Faunes od Christiane Vadnais, dvou současných quebeckých autorek, jejichž vyprávění zpochybňují konvenční představy o konci lidstva a civilizace. Cílem práce bude zjistit, jak se tyto dvě spisovatelky odklánějí od tradičních dystopických narativů. Nejprve přiblížíme z literárněhistorického hlediska žánr dystopie a jeho klíčové rysy. Poté představíme autorky a současný teoretický rámec, který zahrnuje ekokritiku, postantropocén a abhumanismus. V praktické části práce zanalyzujeme a porovnáme dvě zmiňovaná díla za účelem definice jednotlivých prvků rušících anebo naopak splňujících tradiční narativní prostředky a témata dystopie. Práce se rovněž zaměří na pozici člověka vůči přírodě.
