Abstract

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to introduce a Czech translation of an extract from the book Interpreting in the Zone: How the Conscious and Unconscious Function in Interpretation, written by American ASL interpreter Jack Hoza, which was published at Gallaudet University Press. This thesis consists of two parts. The first part presents a Czech translation of Chapter 3 and the first part of Chapter 4 of the book. The second part of the thesis includes a commentary of the translation as well as an analysis of the source text based on Christiane Nord's analysis model. It also describes specific parts of the text that proved problematic during translation, in addition to the typology of translation shifts from a pragmatical, lexical and syntactical points of view. Cílem této bakalářské práce je představit překlad vybrané části knihy Interpreting in the Zone: How the Conscious and Unconscious Function in Interpretation od amerického tlumočníka do znakového jazyka Jacka Hozy, která vyšla v univerzitním nakladatelství Gallaudet University Press. Tato práce má dvě části. První tvoří překlad třetí kapitoly a část kapitoly čtvrté z anglického do českého jazyka. Druhou částí práce je komentář k překladu, který také obsahuje analýzu textu podle modelů Christiane Nordové. Dále se zabývá popisem konkrétních překladatelských problémů a typologii pragmatických, lexikálních a syntaktických rovinách z hlediska jazykového převodu.
