Abstract

The bachelor's thesis focuses on a postmodern project for the completion of the historical center of Kladno, designed by architect Michal Sborwitz in the late 1980s. The project is examined primarily as a specific response to the threat of demolition of the historic urban housing. As comparative material, the thesis analyzes cases from other Czech towns where a similar situation arose due to the threat or execution of large-scale demolitions. The primary aim of the work is to evaluate the project in the context of the architect's broader body of work, as well as to compare it within the wider framework of 1980s and 1990s architecture. Last but not least, the thesis seeks to raise greater awareness of the phenomenon of postmodern projects that responded to the demolition of historic environments in the Czech lands. Bakalářská práce se věnuje postmodernímu projektu dostavby historického jádra Kladna od architekta Michala Sborwitze z konce osmdesátých let 20. století. Projektem se zabývá především jako specifickou odpovědí na hrozící asanaci historické zástavby. Komparativním materiálem pro práci jsou města na území Čech, kde v důsledku hrozící nebo proběhlé asanace nastala podobná situace. Primárním cílem práce je zhodnocení projektu v souvislosti s architektovým dosavadním dílem, ale i jeho porovnání v širším kontextu architektury osmdesátých a devadesátých let 20. století. V neposlední řadě se práce také snaží vytvořit lepší povědomí o fenoménu postmoderních projektů, reagujících na asanaci historického prostředí na území Čech.
