Erós dialogu Faidros: Je Erós skutečně erós?

Abstract

The thesis "Eros in the Phaedrus dialogue: Is Eros actually eros?" explores the connection between the concept of eros in Plato's dialogue Phaedrus and Freud's concept of libido and the life drive. This is a connection that Sigmund Freud himself often pointed out. This thesis thus also examines the validity of his words on the identity of eros and eros. The starting point is a detailed thematic layout and interpretation of the first half of Plato's Phaedrus, which includes both an analysis of individual speeches and an emphasis on the themes of love, desire, and madness. Through careful reading and with the support of relevant secondary literature, it attempts to present Plato's conception of eros as a state of the soul that ideally leads mainly to knowledge but also includes desire and a special form of affectionate-competitive friendship. The next step is to study Freud's development of the concept of libido throughout his work, from its early days to its later stages, including his theories of the life and death drives. The work focuses on revealing the changing meanings of libido, especially its possible extensions beyond sexuality. Diplomová práce "Erós dialogu Faidros: Je Erós skutečně erós?" zkoumá souvislost mezi pojetím eróta v Platonově dialogu Faidros a Freudovým konceptem libida a pudu života. Tedy souvislost, na kterou častokrát poukazoval sám Sigmund Freud. Tato práce tak zkoumá i platnost jeho slov o totožnosti eróta a eróta. Výchozím bodem je podrobné tematické rozvržení a interpretace první poloviny Platonova Faidra, která zahrnuje jak analýzu jednotlivých promluv, tak důraz na motivy lásky, touhy a šílenství. Skrze pečlivé čtení a s oporou v relevantní sekundární literatuře se snaží představit Platónovo pojetí eróta jako stav duše, který ideálně vede hlavně směrem k poznání, ovšem zahrnuje v sobě i žádostivost a zvláštní formu laskavě-soutěživého přátelství. V dalším kroku je předmětem zkoumání Freudův vývoj konceptu libida, a to napříč jeho dílem - od raného období až po pozdní fáze zahrnující teorie pudů života a smrti. Práce se přitom soustředí na odhalení proměn významu libida, zejména na jeho možné přesahy za rámec sexuality. Pochopení teoretických rozdílností i podobností mezi oběma autory umožňuje závěrečná komparativní analýza, která ukazuje, že ani jeden z myslitelů neuvažuje svůj koncept v úzkém rámci, nýbrž v kontextu mnohých dalších duševních, kulturních a společenských jevů.
