Identita v castingové praxi: nesoulad sexuální či genderové identity herce s identitou queer postavy ve filmu a televizi

Abstract

This thesis deals with the issue of identity alignment or misalignment between queer characters and their actors and actresses in the Czech film and television industry. The goal of the research is to explore different patterns of casting practices that influence the selection of actors and actresses for LGBTQ+ roles. The study will attempt to find a connection between the personal preferences of the authors, the original artistic intent, production practices, economic circumstances, and the final relationship between the gender and sexual identity of the character and the performer who embodies the queer part. The focus of the work will therefore be on in- depth interviews with creators whose films and series offer various ways of creatively approaching the topic of identity alignment between actor and character. The main theoretical framework of the thesis is the field of queer production studies, which provides research tools and a body of relevant literature for examining LGBTQ+ audiovisual media not only from the perspective of content analysis, but with an interest in the procedural and practical aspects of film and television production.

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá otázkou identitárního souladu či nesouladu queer postav s jejich hereckými představiteli a představitelkami v českém filmovém a televizním průmyslu. Cílem výzkumu je zmapování rozličných vzorců castingové praxe, které ovlivňují výběr herců a hereček pro ztvárnění LGBTQ+ rolí. Šetření se pokusí nalézt spojitost mezi osobnostními preferencemi autorstva, původním uměleckým záměrem, produkčními praktikami, ekonomickými okolnostmi a výsledným vztahem mezi genderovou a sexuální identitou postavy a performerem či performerkou, kteří queer part ztělesnili. Těžištěm práce se proto stanou hloubkové rozhovory s tvůrci a tvůrkyněmi, jejichž filmy a seriály přináší různé způsoby, jak lze k tematice identitárního souladu herce a postavy kreativně přistupovat. Hlavním teoretickým rámcem práce je disciplína queer production studies, jež poskytuje výzkumné nástroje a kostru relevantní literatury ke zkoumání LGBTQ+ audiovize nikoli z perspektivy obsahové analýzy, ale se zájmem o procesuální a praktickou stránku filmové a televizní tvorby.
