Hluk ve městě: Vyjednávání mezi kulturními zástupci a protihlukovými iniciativami o Prahu

Abstract

Master's thesis analyzes how discourses about urban noise are formed through newspaper and online articles in the Czech media environment. It examines the meanings that noise acquires in society through this process and how these meanings are constructed through language. Secondarily, the thesis also analyzes adjacent themes such as urban bureaucracy, city governance, and the need for social gathering, which these discourses on noise trigger-and how these themes are linguistically shaped. The theoretical framework of the thesis draws on concepts from acoustic ecology and urban studies in order to capture the complexity and multiplicity of meanings that noise in the city can acquire. The media content analysis focuses on the media discourse within which noise is framed as a socially constructed phenomenon. In urban planning and the formulation of city ordinances concerning noise, only the physical properties of noise such as loudness and its effects are often taken into account. However, these attributes constitute only a part of the social reality of noise. This thesis contributes to a deeper understanding of noise as a discursively and socially negotiated phenomenon and offers insight into what other variables might be considered for fairer and more sensitive urban planning.

Diplomová práce analyzuje, jak se skrze novinové a online články v českém mediálním prostředí formuje diskurz o hluku ve městě. Zkoumá, jaké významy hluk ve společnosti v tomto procesu získává a jak jsou tyto významy jazykově konstruovány. Sekundárně práce analyzuje také vedlejší témata městské byrokracie, vedení města a potřeby se setkávat, které diskurz o hluku spouští a jak tento proces jazykově vypadá. Teoretická část práce vychází z teoretických konceptů z oboru akustické ekologie a urbánních studií, aby postihla komplexitu a množství významů, jakých může hluk ve městě nabývat. Analýza mediálního obsahu je potom zaměřená na mediální diskurz, v rámci kterého je hluk společensky konstruovaný fenomén. Při urbánním plánování a tvorbě městských vyhlášek týkajících se hluku jsou mnohdy brány v potaz pouze fyzické vlastnosti hluku, například hlasitost, a jejich působení. Tyto atributy však tvoří jen část společenské reality hluku. Práce přispívá k hlubšímu porozumění hluku jako diskurzivně a společensky vyjednávanému fenoménu a nabízí náhled na to, jaké další proměnné lze brát v potaz při spravedlivějším a citlivějším plánování městského prostředí.
