Abstract

This thesis deals with the topic of coertion of psychiatric pactients and the prevention o fit using Safewards. Safewards is an approach to care consisting of 10 interventions. The main aim is the humanisation of psychiatric care, with emphasis on human rights. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the conceptual and theoretical foundations of Safewards. Since one of the main goals of Safewards is to reduce coertion in psychiatric wards, the theoretical section also talks about coertion as a whole and its impact both on staff and on patients. A substantial part of the theoretical section describes the Safewards model and summarises existing research related to it. The empirical part of this thesis was carried out using a qualitative research design. It focuses on the experiences of staff in psychiatric wards with the Safewards model. The research explored both the staff's perceptions of Safewards and their attitudes towards it, as well as their experiences with the implementation process. It focused on the factors influencing successful implementation. Tato diplomová práce se zabývá omezeními pacientů v psychiatrické péči a metodikou Safewards zaměřenou na prevenci omezování. Jedná se o metodiku složenou z 10 intervencí, jejímž cílem je především humanizace psychiatrické péče s velkým důrazem na lidská práva. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na myšlenková a teoretická východiska metodiky. Protože jedním z hlavních cílů metodiky je snížení množství používaných omezovacích prostředků na psychiatrických odděleních, zabývá se teoretická část omezovacími prostředky a tím, jaký vliv má jejich používání jak na zdravotnický personál, tak na pacienty. Velká část teoretické části je věnována popisu metodiky Safewards a dosavadním výzkumným zjištěním, která se s ní pojí. Empirická část diplomové práce byla realizována za využití kvalitativního designu a zaměřuje se na zkušenosti personálu psychiatrických oddělení s metodikou Safewards. Výzkum sledoval jak názor personálu na metodiku a jeho postoj k ní, tak zkušenosti s procesem implementace. Především se zmařoval na faktory, které implementaci ovlivňují. V rámci postoje personálu k metodice byla identifikována tři hlavní témata: Přirozená součást praxe, Nerealistické požadavky a Přínosy Safewards.
