Vliv estetiky Hippolyta Taina na estetiku Georga Brandese - komparativní analýza textů věnovaných díle a osobnosti Williama Shakespeara

Abstract

(ENG) This paper examines the influence of the aesthetic theory of the French thinker Hippolyte Taine on the Danish literary critic Georg Brandes, or rather the influence of the aesthetics of Hippolyte Taine on the literary criticism (aesthetics) of Georg Brandes. The Danish literary critic was greatly influenced by the theory and philosophy of Hippolyte Taine, however, for various reasons, they differ on some essential points. In the first, theoretical part of the work, the thinking of both authors is presented in detail, with the fundamental differences between them highlighted and explained. Brandes disagrees with Taine on the following points: 1. the purpose of art and art criticism, 2. the nature of genius, and the importance of race and characteristics stemming from race for the work of a genius. 1. While Brandes sees the purpose of art and criticism in the awakening of human action, which should lead to the improvement of the world, Taine believes that art and criticism should (and can) only describe the world. This difference is a consequence of the philosophical basis of both authors: Brandes is rather influenced by Hegel's progressive philosophy, whereas Taine is influenced by Spinoza's deterministic philosophy. 2. (CZ) Práce zkoumá vliv estetiky francouzského teoretika Hippolyta Taina na dánského literárního kritika Georga Brandese, respektive vliv estetiky Hippolyta Taina na literární kritiku (estetiku) Georga Brandese. Dánský literární kritik byl značně ovlivněn teorií a filozofií Hippolyta Taina; z různých důvodů se však v některých podstatných bodech rozcházejí. V první, teoretické části práce je podrobně představeno myšlení obou autorů, s tím, že jsou zde uvedeny a vysvětleny zásadní rozdíly mezi nimi. Brandes s Tainem nesouhlasí v těchto bodech: 1. účel umění a umělecké kritiky, 2. povaha génia, význam rasy a vlastností z ní vyplývajících pro géniovu tvorbu. 1. Zatímco Brandes vidí účel umění a kritiky v probuzení lidského jednání, které má vést ke zlepšení světa, Taine se domnívá, že umění a kritika mají (a mohou) svět pouze popisovat. Tento rozdíl je důsledkem filozofického základu obou autorů: Brandes je spíše ovlivněný Hegelovou progresivní filozofií, Taine je ovlivněn deterministickou filozofií Spinozy. 2. Konceptuálně se nejvíce Brandes s Tainem rozchází v tom, jaké povahy jsou geniální umělci a jejich tvorba.
