William Shakespeare a Samuel Beckett: Podobnost skrytá v odlišnosti

Abstract

This bachelor thesis focuses on the complex relationship between the dramatic works of William Shakespeare and Sameul Beckett, with special attention being given to the plays King Lear and Endgame. The thesis closely analyses groundbreaking hypotheses of prominent theatrologists and the way in which they influenced the line of thinking about this topic. It also focuses on historical context and the evolution of staging approaches before and after the arrival of Samuel Beckett and his contemporaries into the zeitgeist. On the basis of these facts, the thesis then forms its own arguments and analyses of both playwrights' works. The aim of this thesis is to, through the method of compilation and comparison, create an overview of the creation and evolution of a new way of understanding Shakespeare's work and to comprehensively sum up the dialogue that both playwrights lead with each another across centuries.

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na komplexní vztah mezi dramatikou autorů Williama Shakespeara a Samuela Becketta, přičemž hlavní pozornost je věnována hrám Král Lear a Konec hry. Práce důkladně analyzuje přelomové teze předních teatrologů a způsob, jakým ovlivnili přemýšlení o této tématice. Zaměřuje se rovněž na historický kontext a vývoj přístupu k inscenování Shakespearova díla, konkrétně Krále Leara, před a po příchodu Samuela Becketta a jeho současníků. Na získaných faktech dále práce staví svá vlastní tvrzení a analýzy her z per obou dramatiků. Cílem práce je metodou interpretace a komparace zkoumaného materiálu vytvořit přehled vzniku a vývoje nového směru přemýšlení o Shakespearově díle a komplexně shrnout pomyslný dialog, který mezi sebou zkoumaní autoři vedou.
