Interakcia sociológov s akademickou literatúrou: Stratégie vyhľadávania, čítania a organizácie poznatkov

Abstract

This diploma thesis focuses on the interaction between social scientists and academic literature. Although academic literature is an essential component of the publication cycle in academic settings, the ways in which academics access, use and manage it have been empirically under- researched. This thesis aims to explore this phenomenon in the field of sociology. For the purposes of this research, 12 semi-structured interviews were conducted and further analysed using the grounded theory method of the constructivist tradition. The results show that sociologists search for and read literature mainly for the needs of their current research. When selecting literature, they focus on its relevance, relying on supporting texts in their field of interest or determining relevance based on the content of the article's abstract. Literature searching is also a social activity, as academics exchange literature recommendations with each other. The thesis further introduces the concepts of operational and archival annotations. The former are intended for short-term use, while the latter are intended for repeated reference and returning to their content. Predkladaná diplomová práca sa zaoberá interakciou sociálnych vedcov s akademickou literatúrou. Akademická literatúra je nevyhnutnou súčasťou v publikačnom cykle v akademickom prostredí, avšak spôsoby, ako k nej akademici pristupujú, ako ju využívajú a ako si ju uchovávajú sú empiricky slabo preskúmané. Predkladaná práca sa snaží tento fenomén preskúmať na poli sociológie. Pre potreby výskumu bolo vykonaných 12 polo- štruktúrovaných rozhovorov, ktoré boli ďalej analyzované metódou zakotvenej teórie konštruktivistickej tradície. Z výsledkov je možné vyvodiť, že sociológovia hľadajú a čítajú literatúru najmä pre potreby ich aktuálneho výskumu. Pri výbere literatúry sa koncentrujú na jej relevanciu, pričom sa spoliehajú na nosné texty v ich oblasti záujmu, prípadne relevanciu určujú podľa obsahu abstraktu daného článku. Vyhľadávanie literatúry je aj sociálnou činnosťou, nakoľko si akademici tipy na literatúru navzájom vymieňajú. Práca ďalej predstavuje koncepty operačných a archivačných poznámok, pričom prvé z nich sú určené pre krátkodobé použitie, zatiaľ čo druhé sú určené pre opakované vracanie sa k ich obsahu. Práca taktiež sleduje princípy manažmentu osobných súborov, pričom hlavným zistením v tejto oblasti je unikátnosť spôsobu organizácie súborov naprieč prístupmi všetkých respondentov. Interakcie...
