Motiv pohledu v románové tvorbě Milana Kundery

Abstract

The aim of this thesis is to explore the motif of the gaze in the novels of Milan Kundera through the method of motif analysis. The purpose of this analysis is to offer a deeper insight into the author's fictional world and to examine how the motif in question contributes to the thematic and narrative structures of his works. Instances of the gaze are first analysed individually in selected novels. The final, synthesising chapter then summarises recurring patterns in the use of this motif across the examined corpus and highlights their similarities and differences. Given the frequency of this motif, only selected passages will be analysed in detail-those that best illustrate the various forms and functions the motif of the gaze assumes in Kundera's prose. The theoretical foundation of the thesis is based on Boris Tomashevsky's concept of the motif and motivation, as well as on other literary-theoretical concepts (such as character and narrator). The work also draws on the notion of the gaze as conceptualised by Jean-Paul Sartre and Michel Foucault. Diplomová práce si klade za cíl prozkoumat motiv pohledu v románové tvorbě spisovatele Milana Kundery prostřednictvím motivické analýzy. Záměrem této analýzy je poté poskytnout hlubší vhled do románového světa autora a zjistit, jak zkoumaný motiv přispívá k tematickým a narativním strukturám jeho děl. Výskyty motivu pohledu jsou nejprve analyzovány v jednotlivých románech. Závěrečná syntetizující kapitola poté shrnuje opakující se způsoby jeho využití napříč zkoumaným materiálem a poukazuje na jejich podobnosti i rozdíly. S ohledem na četnost výskytu motivu pohledu budou podrobně analyzovány pouze některé pasáže, které umožňují postihnout různé podoby a funkce tohoto motivu v Kunderově próze. Jako teoretické východisko slouží koncept motivu a motivace v pojetí Borise Tomaševského, a okrajově také další pojmy literární teorie (postava, vypravěč apod.). Práce se rovněž opírá o fenomén pohledu tak, jak mu rozuměli Jean-Paul Sartre a Michel Foucault.
