Abstract

This thesis explores the provision of senior home care by the municipality of Prague 42 in the context of the ongoing transformation of social services. The aim of the thesis is to understand the practices and imaginaries related to care provision, with a focus on meal distribution, and to analyze how actors negotiate the provision of care within the framework of transformation policies. The thesis is grounded in feminist political economy and draws on the approach of state ethnography. Ethnographic research was conducted within the care service using methods of participant observation and semi- structured interviews. Interviews were carried out with a municipal councillor, staff of the care centre, and senior women and men. Participant observation focused on the everyday practices associated with care provision. The thesis argues that the distribution of meals to seniors is a care activity that is part of a complex network of caregiving relationships between senior citizens and the local state. It explores how the municipal administration and the care service translate transformation policies- interweaving processes of marketization, re-familialization, and deinstitutionalization-in ways that (re)produce a caring state. Diplomová práce prozkoumává poskytování seniorské terénní péče municipality Prahy 42 v kontextu probíhající transformace sociálních služeb. Cílem práce je porozumět praxím a představám spojeným s poskytováním péče se zaměřením na distribuci obědů a analyzovat, jak aktérstvo vyjednává poskytování péče v rámci politik transformace. Práce je ukotvena ve feministické politické ekonomii a využívá přístup etnografie státu. Etnografický výzkum byl realizován v pečovatelské službě prostřednictvím metod zúčastněného pozorování a polostrukturovaných rozhovorů. Rozhovory byly vedeny s radním municipality, zaměstnanectvem pečovatelského centra, seniorkami a seniory. Zúčastněné pozorování se zaměřovalo na každodenní praxe spojené s poskytováním péče. Práce argumentuje, že distribuce obědů seniorstvu je aktivitou péče, která je součástí komplexní sítě pečovatelských vztahů mezi seniorstvem a lokálním státem. Prozkoumává, jak radnice a pečovatelská služba překládají politiky transformace, ve kterých se proplétají procesy marketizace, re- familizace a deinstitucionalizace tak, aby (re)produkovali pečující stát. V neposlední řadě se práce věnuje tomu, jak aktérstvo operuje s konceptem aktivního stárnutí při vyjednávání o tom, kdo má nárok na péči a jakou péči má transformovaná pečovatelská služba poskytovat....
