Genderová analýza povídek Karla a Divá Bára od Boženy Němcové

Abstract

The subject of my thesis is a gender analysis of two short stories written by the Czech writer Božena Němcová who occupies a magnificent position in the national literary canon. The selected works for examination are Karla and Divá Bára where I will specifically focus on the comparison of the two central characters Karla and Bára. Then I will classify the supporting characters from a gender perspective and try to demonstrate the portrayal of femininity and masculinity. My motivation is the need for reflection on gender issues and the fact that Czech literature of the first half of the 19th century is not so much explored from a gender perspective. The aim of the work is to evaluate how/whether these literary works reproduce or reinforce gender stereotypes whether the characters internally identify with how the gender structure is perceived in society or if they define themselves against the order. Předmětem této diplomové práce je genderová analýza dvou povídek z pera české spisovatelky Boženy Němcové, která zaujímá velkolepé postavení v národním literárním kánonu. Vybranými díly ke zkoumání jsou Karla a Divá Bára, kde se konkrétně zaměřím na komparaci dvou ústředních postav Karly a Báry. Dále provedu klasifikaci vedlejších postav z genderové perspektivy a pokusím se demonstrovat zobrazení feminity a maskulinity. Motivací je potřeba reflexe genderové tématiky a fakt, že česká literatura první poloviny 19. století není tolik prozkoumána z genderového pohledu. Za cíl práce si kladu zhodnocení, jak/zda tato literární díla reprodukují nebo posilují genderové stereotypy, zda se postavy vnitřně ztotožňují s tím, jak je vnímáno genderové uspořádání ve společnosti nebo jestli se vůči řádu vymezují.
