Abstract

Thesis In Search of Messianic Time: Rosenzweig, Benjamin and Rav Kook Abstract The thesis examines the notions of time, history, and redemption in the thought of Franz Rosenzweig, Walter Benjamin, and Abraham Isaac Ha-Cohen Kook. Their conceptions of messianic time are explored in the context of European intellectual history and the broader transformations of modernity. The understanding of redemption in their work was shaped against the backdrop of the early 20th century temporal turn, which emphasized the historical perspective of individuals and their subjective experience of time and its passage. The thesis analyzes their conceptions of messianism through three interrelated areas: (1) the shift toward a new conception of temporality, (2) the question of human agency in relation to redemption, and (3) the spatial dimension of their messianic visions concerning diasporic Europe, the modern metropolis, and Palestine. The works of these authors are interpreted in a way that brings together the philosophical, theological, and political dimensions of their thought.

Diplomová práce Hledání mesiášského času: Rosenzweig, Benjamin a Rav Kook Abstrakt Předkládaná práce se zabývá pojetím času, dějin a vykoupení v myšlení Franze Rosenzweiga, Waltera Benjamina a Avrahama Jicchaka ha-Kohen Kooka. Koncepce mesiášského času jsou u těchto autorů zkoumány v kontextu evropských intelektuálních dějin a širších proměn modernity. Jejich pojetí vykoupení se utvářelo na pozadí "časového obratu" počátku 20. století, v němž byl kladen větší důraz na dějinnou perspektivu jednotlivce a jeho subjektivní vnímání běhu času. Práce analyzuje jednotlivé koncepce mesianismu prostřednictvím tří tematických oblastí: (1) přechod k novému pojetí časovosti, (2) otázka lidského jednání ve vztahu k vykoupení, (3) prostorová dimenze jejich mesiánských vizí týkající se diasporické Evropy, moderní metropole a území Palestiny. Práce vykládá díla autorů způsobem, který propojuje filosofické, teologické i politické dimenze jejich myšlení.
