Role a význam uměleckého aktivismu v Rusku v letech 2007-2015

Abstract

The bachelor thesis deals with the phenomenon of artistic activism in Russia between 2007 and 2015. It explores the relationship between authoritarian regime, ideology, and art, with the main aim of identifying which displays of artistic activists provoked a reaction from the regime and how this response changed over the studied period. The thesis focuses on three of the most important artistic activists of the period in Russia: the group Voina, the group Pussy Riot and the performance artist Pyotr Pavlensky. It describes their works and compares the intensity and nature of the subsequent reaction. It looks for connections between aspects of the works and the regime's response. The thesis finds that a stronger reaction was provoked by those displays of artistic activism that contained several elements that were problematic for the regime - namely the symbolism of the place, the loudness and expressiveness of the action, its explicitness, the sensitivity of the theme and the continuity with their previous works. The period in which the performance happened also played an important role. The response to works of artistic activism gradually tightened between 2007 and 2015, with a major turn in 2011 and 2012. Bakalářská práce se zabývá fenoménem uměleckého aktivismu v Rusku v letech 2007 až 2015. Zkoumá vztah mezi autoritářským režimem, ideologií a uměním, přičemž hlavním cílem je identifikovat, které projevy uměleckých aktivistů vyvolaly reakci režimu a jak se tato reakce proměňovala v průběhu sledovaného období. Práce se zaměřuje na tři nejvýznamnější umělecké aktivisty dané doby v Rusku: skupinu Vojnu, kolektiv Pussy Riot a performera Pjotra Pavlenského. Popisuje jejich jednotlivá díla a porovnává intenzitu a charakter následné reakce. Hledá souvislosti mezi aspekty daných děl a režimní odezvou. Práce zjišťuje, že silnější reakci vyvolaly ty projevy uměleckého aktivismu, které obsahovaly vícero pro režim problematických prvků - jednalo se o symboliku místa, hlasitost a výraznost akce, její jednoznačnost, citlivost tématu a návaznost na předchozí díla. Roli hrála také doba, ve které byla performance uskutečněna. V průběhu let 2007 až 2015 se odezva na díla uměleckého aktivismu postupně zpřísňovala, přičemž zásadní obrat nastal v letech 2011 a 2012. Reakce režimu probíhala v rovině policie a soudů, byla však významně provázaná s politickým vedením země.
