Fantomové hranice a jejich vliv na sociální a politickou diferenciaci Chorvatska

Abstract

This thesis provides a basis for the study of the so-called phantom regions in Croatia, where no previous study has dealt with this phenomenon. It includes a comprehensive historical excursion detecting a number of historical boundaries from antiquity to the present, which could be further analysed in terms of the phantom effect. The history of the three selected regions is then explored in more depth and their phantom effect is tested on election results and several social characteristics. A spatial Hot Spot analysis is used revealing clusters of outliers that are ideal for cartographic visualization of regional differences. By comparing the distribution of the proportions of these clusters in phantom regions and across the state, it is possible to explore whether these regions differ. A historical excursion can then be used to explore whether the phantom effect is the cause of the differences. The statistical significance of these differences is then determined using a Pearson's chi-squared test. The main regional differences caused by the phantom effect exist mainly in the ethnic structure, but also in the structure of religious groups or educational attainment. Tato diplomová práce přináší základ pro studium tzv. fantomových regionů v Chorvatsku, kde se tímto fenoménem doposud žádná studie nezabývala. Její součástí je komplexní historický exkurz detekující řadu historických hranic od antiky až po současnost, které by mohly být z hlediska fantomového efektu dále analyzovány. Historie tří vybraných regionů je pak prozkoumána více do hloubky a jejich fantomový efekt je otestován na výsledcích voleb a několika sociálních charakteristikách. V této práci je provedena prostorová Hot Spot analýza odhalující shluky extrémních hodnot, které jsou ideálním prostředkem pro kartografickou vizualizaci regionálních rozdílů. Srovnáním distribuce podílů těchto shluků ve fantomových regionech a v celém státě lze určit, zda se tyto regiony liší. Na základě historického exkurzu pak lze určit, zda je příčinou jejich odlišností právě fantomový efekt. Statistická významnost těchto rozdílů je pak zjištěna pomocí chí-kvadrát testu dobré shody. Základní regionální rozdíly způsobené fantomovým efektem existují zejména v etnické struktuře, ale také ve struktuře náboženských skupin, nebo vzdělanosti.
