Abstract

Bakalářská práce s názvem Mediální obraz pádu Berlínské zdi v denících Rudé právo a The New York Times se zabývá způsobem, kterým byl pád Berlínské zdi v listopadu roku 1989 zachycen v československém listu Rudé právo a v americkém deníku The New York Times. Cílem práce je analyzovat to, jak oba deníky o událostech informovaly a porovnat jejich přístup, tematické zaměření a ideologické tendence. V rámci teoretické části práce jsou vysvětleny základní pojmy a koncepty, které tvoří rámec mediální analýzy. Následuje politicko-historický kontext pádu Berlínské zdi, který je zasazen do širšího vývoje mezinárodních vztahů a politických změn v NDR i ve východním bloku. Při analýze článků z Rudého práva a The New York Times je důraz kladen na obsah článků, jejich zpracování, různorodost témat, ideové tendence a na celkovou informační hodnotu zpráv. Výsledkem analytické části a práce jako takové je komparace dvou deníků a jejich přístupů k informování o pádu Berlínské zdi. Porovnání poukazuje na významné rozdíly ve způsobech informování o totožné události, které jsou dané zejména odlišným politickým zázemím obou novin. Analýza podtrhuje roli médií při utváření veřejného mínění a ukazuje, jak mohou kulturní a politické faktory ovlivnit mediální obraz jedné události.

The bachelor's thesis entitled The Media Portrayal of the Fall of the Berlin Wall in the newspapers Rudé právo and The New York Times focuses on the way the fall of the Berlin Wall in November 1989 was portrayed in the Czechoslovak newspaper Rudé právo and the American newspaper The New York Times. The aim of the paper is to analyze the way in which both newspapers covered the events and to compare their approach, thematic focus and ideological tendencies. The theoretical part of the thesis explains the basic terms and concepts that form the framework of the subsequent media analysis. This is followed by the political and historical context of the fall of the Berlin Wall, which is set within the broader development of international relations and political change in the GDR and the Eastern Bloc. In analyzing articles from Rudé právo and The New York Times, emphasis is placed on the content of the articles, the way they are handled, the variety of topics, ideological tendencies, and the overall informational value of the news. The result of the analytical part and the thesis as such is a comparison of two newspapers and their approaches to reporting on the fall of the Berlin Wall.
