Vzestup MAGA a vnitřní mocenská struktura Republikánské strany: Jak se frakci podařilo získat kontrolu nad stranou

Abstract

This thesis analyses the dynamics of factions within the Republican Party of the United States of America with a special focus on the "Make America Great Again" (MAGA) faction, which has been gaining dominance since 2016 when Donald Trump was elected to the presidential office. The thesis primarily addresses the research question of what specific mechanisms and institutional factors have contributed to the MAGA faction's ability to effectively dominate the Republican Party and shape its current form. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the institutional framework of the Republican Party and the factions within it. It examines what intra-party mechanisms and institutions are essential in the competition between factions, thereby marking the crucial factors in gaining control of the party. Analysis of these key factors and events selected by the author serve as a tool to track the rise of MAGA. The empirical section then focuses on the individual gains of key positions in the Republican Party through the primaries and the Republican National Committee (RNC) that MAGA used to gain leadership. In doing so, the thesis seeks to offer a deeper insight into the intra-party dynamics of the Republican Party through the political strategies of MAGA and other factions.

Tato bakalářská práce analyzuje frakční dynamiku uvnitř Republikánské strany Spojených států Amerických se zvláštním zaměřením na frakci "Make America Great Again" (MAGA), jež od roku 2016 nabývá dominantního postavení, kdy byl Donald Trump zvolen do prezidentského úřadu. Práce se primárně zabývá výzkumnou otázkou, jaké specifické mechanismy a institucionální faktory přispěly k tomu, že frakce MAGA dokázala fakticky ovládnout Republikánskou stranu a formovat její současnou podobu. V teoretické části práce je definován institucionální rámec Republikánské strany a frakcí v ní. Zkoumá se, jaké vnitrostranické mechanismy a orgány jsou klíčové v boji mezi frakcemi, čímž jsou vyznačeny zásadní faktory pro získání kontroly nad stranou. Analýza těchto klíčových faktorů i událostí vybraných autorem slouží jako nástroj ke sledování vzestupu MAGA. Empirická část se pak zaměřuje na jednotlivé zisky klíčových funkcí v Republikánské straně skrze primární volby a Republikánský národní výbor (RNC - "Republican National Committee"), jež využila MAGA k zisku vůdčí pozice. Tímto se práce snaží nabídnout hlubší vhled do vnitrostranické dynamiky Republikánské strany prostřednictvím politických strategií MAGA a dalších frakcí.
