Kontextualismus v reprezentativní architektuře Františka Roitha: studie tří staveb

Abstract

The thesis focuses on three public buildings in Prague designed by the architect František Roith in the 1920s and 1930s, a period of the First Republic associated not only with intensive building activity but also with significant changes in perception of historical urban layers. The thesis observes and explains the contextual character of Roith's work, particularly in the buildings of the Ministry of Finance, the Municipal Library, and the Živnostenská banka. The selection of these buildings is based on their intervention in the highly valuable historical urban structure, while also reflecting their public or socially important role. These two aspects result, on the one hand, in the requirement to consider the context of the surroundings and, on the other hand, in the need for a representative architectural expression. The main objective of this bachelor's thesis is to trace the methods by which František Roith sought to fulfil-not only- these two premises. Tato práce se zabývá třemi pražskými veřejnými stavbami architekta Františka Roitha vznikajícími ve 20. a 30. letech, období první republiky, spojeného nejen s intenzivní stavební činností, ale také významnými změnami v uvažování o historických vrstvách města. Na budově ministerstva financí, Městské knihovny a Živnostenské banky pozoruje a vysvětluje jejich kontextuální charakter. Výběr těchto staveb vychází z jejich intervence do vysoce cenné historické struktury města, a současně z jejich veřejné či společensky významné povahy. Z těchto dvou aspektů tak vyplývají na jedné straně nároky na zohlednění kontextu okolní zástavby, a na straně druhé potřeba reprezentativního architektonického vyznění. Hlavním cílem této bakalářské práce bude vysledovat, jakými prostředky František Roith usiloval o splnění - nejen - těchto dvou předpokladů.
