Zahraniční politika USA vůči Indii: vysvětlení změn v posledních dvou desetiletích

Abstract

This thesis examines the individual U.S. presidential administrations and their approach to India. Specifically, it focuses on the administrations of President George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald J. Trump, covering the period from 2001 to 2021. The aim of the thesis was to determine whether foreign policy changes occur and what factors contribute to these changes. Through theoretical approaches, particularly neorealism and its subtype defensive neorealism, the thesis seeks to answer the research question and formulated hypotheses outlined in the specified methodological framework. The thesis is divided into four chapters, the first of which deals with the historical context between the USA and India, which is necessary for understanding the relationships in the 21st century. The second chapter deals with the theoretical framework, where theoretical directions, hypotheses, and the research question to be answered are determined. The third chapter analyzes the individual U.S. administrations and the evolution of their policies and interactions with the Indian side. The fourth chapter is then an evaluation of the hypotheses based on the findings from the third chapter. Tato práce zkoumá jednotlivé americké prezidentské administrativy a jejich přístup k Indii. Konkrétně se zaměřuji na administrativy prezidenta George W. Bushe, Baracka Obamy a Donalda J. Trumpa, tedy období od roku 2001 do roku 2021. Cílem práce bylo zjistit, zda se zahraniční politika mění a jaké jsou faktory pro danou změnu. Prostřednictvím teoretických přístupů, zejména neorealismu a jeho podtypu defenzivního realismu, se práce snaží odpovědět na výzkumnou otázku a formulované hypotézy, které jsou vytyčené v určeném metodologickém rámci. Práce je rozdělená do čtyř kapitol, z nichž první se zabývá historickým kontextem mezi USA a Indií, což je nutné pro pochopení vztahů ve 21. století. Druhá kapitola se zabývá teoretickým rámcem, kde jsou určeny teoretické směry, hypotézy a výzkumná otázka, na kterou práce odpoví. Třetí kapitola se zabývá analýzou jednotlivých amerických administrativ a vývojem jejich politiky a interakcí s indickou stranou. Čtvrtá kapitola je poté vyhodnocením hypotéz na základě zjištění z třetí kapitoly. Tento výzkum ukázal, že lze pozorovat dynamický vývoj v bilaterálních vztazích USA a Indie na základě změn v globální mocenské struktuře.
