Král Šumavy - legenda a mýtus. Dva odlišné filmové obrazy a jejich mediální reflexe

Abstract

The thesis deals with the process of creating two different film adaptations of the story of the King of Sumava - namely the film "Král Šumavy" (King of Sumava) by Karel Kachyňa from 1959 and the miniseries "Král Šumavy: Fantom temného kraje" (King of Sumava: the Phantom of the Dark Region) by David Ondříček from 2022. Both of these films were inspired by the story of smugglers and agents of the American Counterintelligence Corps who helped the then citizens of Czechoslovakia to cross the border illegally after the events of February 1948. Historically, the most famous King of Sumava is considered to be Josef Hasil, who began his smuggling activities while still in uniform as a member of the National Security Corps. The thesis uses literature to map real events related to the activities of the Kings of Sumava, and then compares the captured reality with the story depicted in two film adaptations. The result is an analysis of the film adaptations of the topic, which focuses on the filmmakers' work with reality and the use of supporting technical methods. The second result is then an analysis of selected film reviews of the two films, which focuses not only on the artistic value of the films but also on their ideological role.

Diplomová práce se zabývá procesem tvorby dvou odlišných filmových zpracování příběhu Krále Šumavy - konkrétně se jedná o film Král Šumavy režiséra Karla Kachyni z roku 1959 a minisérii Král Šumavy: Fantom temného kraje režiséra Davida Ondříčka z roku 2022. Oba tyto snímky byly inspirovány příběhem převaděčů a agentů americké zpravodajské služby Counterintelligence Corps, kteří po událostech v únoru roku 1948 pomáhali tehdejším občanům Československa nelegálně překračovat hranici. Za nejznámějšího Krále Šumavy je historicky považován Josef Hasil, který se svou převaděčskou činností začal ještě v uniformě člena pohraničního útvaru Sboru národní bezpečnosti. Práce za pomoci literatury mapuje reálné události související s činností Králů Šumavy a následně zachycenou skutečnost porovnává s příběhem vyobrazeným ve dvou filmových zpracováních. Výsledkem je analýza filmových zpracování tématu, která se zaměřuje na práci tvůrců filmů s realitou a na využití podpůrných technických metod. Druhým výsledkem je pak analýza vybraných filmových recenzí obou snímků, které se soustředí nejen na uměleckou hodnotu filmů, ale i na jejich ideologickou roli.
