True Crime: Edukace nebo zábava? Mediální formáty na hraně infotainmentu

Abstract

Cílem diplomové práce je shrnout aktuální poznatky o žánru true crime a analyzovat způsoby, jakými jsou infotainmentové a edutainmentové prvky prezentovány v českých mediálních formátech. V teoretické části jsou vymezeny informace o true crime jako mediálním fenoménu a popsány základní charakteristiky infotainmentu a edutainmentu v kontextu současné mediální kultury. Zároveň je věnována pozornost historickému vývoji žánru true crime a jeho postavení v angloamerickém a českém prostředí. Výzkumná část práce navazuje na část teoretickou a sestává z kvalitativního výzkumu využívajícího metodu diskurzivní analýzy. Pozornost je zaměřena na tři mediální formáty: podcastové epizody, dokumentární sérii a novinové články věnující se kriminálním případům. Jednotlivé analyzované materiály jsou na základě stanovených kritérií porovnávány, přičemž dochází k identifikaci dominantních jazykových strategií a vztahů mezi infotainmentem a edutainmentem. Výsledky poukazují na tendenci true crime formátů propojit zábavní a edukativní složky a potvrzují, že hranice mezi těmito rovinami je v rámci mediálního diskurzu proměnlivá a často vzájemně provázaná.

The aim of this thesis is to summarize current knowledge about the true crime genre and to analyze the ways in which infotainment and edutainment elements are presented in Czech media formats. The theoretical part defines information about true crime as a media phenomenon and describes the basic characteristics of infotainment and edutainment in the context of contemporary media culture. It also addresses the historical development of the true crime genre and its position in the Anglo-American and Czech environments. The research part of the thesis builds on the theoretical part and consists of qualitative research using the method of discourse analysis. Attention is focused on three media formats: podcast episodes, a documentary series, and newspaper articles dealing with criminal cases. The analyzed materials are compared based on established criteria, leading to the identification of dominant linguistic strategies and the relationships between infotainment and edutainment. The results highlight the tendency of true crime formats to combine entertainment and educational components and confirm that the boundary between these dimensions is variable and often mutually intertwined within the media discourse.
