Genderové stereotypy v seriálu Simpsonovi - případová studie postavy Marge Simpsonové

Abstract

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na analýzu reprezentace ženské postavy Marge Simpsonové v animovaném seriálu Simpsonovi, konkrétně v první sérii z roku 1989 a jednatřicáté sérii z roku 2019. Cílem práce je zjistit, zda a jakým způsobem se proměnila charakterizace této postavy v kontextu proměny genderových norem a mediální reprezentace žen. Analýza je založena na kvalitativní obsahové analýze všech epizod obou sérií, přičemž výzkumný materiál byl interpretován pomocí induktivního kódování, které umožnilo identifikovat opakující se vzorce v reprezentaci postav. Výsledky ukazují, že i přes dílčí posuny v projevech postavy Marge zůstává její charakterizace v obou sériích pevně ukotvena v tradičním genderovém rámci. Ačkoliv se v novější sérii objevují náznaky autonomie, sebereflexe či nesouhlasu, tyto prvky nemají zásadní vliv na narativní vývoj nebo její postavení v rámci rodiny. Změny v charakteru Marge se odehrávají výhradně v mezích symbolické proměny. Zachovává si tradiční rysy, přestože v novější sérii vystupuje s větší vnitřní ambivalencí a schopností samostatného rozhodování. Právě napětí mezi stabilitou a možností změny činí její postavu kulturně relevantní i po třiceti letech vysílání.

This bachelor thesis focuses on the analysis of the representation of the female character Marge Simpson in the animated series The Simpsons, specifically in the first series from 1989 and the thirty-first series from 2019. The aim of the thesis is to explore whether and how the characterization of this figure has changed in the context of shifting gender norms and the media representation of women. The analysis is based on a qualitative content analysis of all episodes from both seasons. The research material was interpreted using inductive coding, which enabled the identification of recurring patterns in the character's representation. The results show that despite partial shifts in the manifestation of the character of Marge, her characterization in both series remains firmly anchored in the traditional gender framework. Although the newer season introduces hints of autonomy, self-reflection, or dissent, these elements do not significantly influence the narrative development or her position within the family. The changes in Marge's character occur strictly within the boundaries of symbolic transformation - she retains her traditional traits, although in the newer season she is portrayed with greater inner ambivalence and decision-making capacity.
