Pohádky a jejich reprodukce: Genderová analýza dvou verzí Krásky a zvířete

Abstract

in English In this thesis I examine two versions of the fairy tale about Beauty and the Beast from the gender perspective - Beauty and the Beast (1756) by Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont and A Court of Thorns and Roses (2015) by Sarah J. Maas. I examine whether and to what extent the protagonists of the two versions are similar and what gender stereotypes and norms they carry or subvert. The analysis is focused mainly on the agency of the heroines and on examining what values their agency (or the lack of thereof) emphaizes and how it affects the readers. The thesis is divided into three parts in which I will sequentially introduce the contextual relevance of studying literature and fairy tales from the feminist perspective, then introduce the main theoretical concepts I am working with (resisting reading, gender performativity and hegemonic masculinity) and compare and evaluate each version of the given fairy tale through comparative analysis. The analysis proceeds chronologically with the plot with focus on the most important moments of the story, where first analyzed is the 18th century version followed by the contemporary one. V této diplomové práci se věnuji genderové analýze dvou verzí pohádky o Krásce o Zvířeti - Krásce a Zvířeti (1756) od Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont a Dvoru trnů a růží ( 2015) od Sarah J. Maas. Ve své práci zkoumám, zda a do jaké míry si jsou hlavní hrdinky obou verzí podobné a jaké genderové stereotypy a normy přenáší nebo nabourávají. Analýza je zaměřena především na agentnost hrdinek a na zkoumání toho, na jaké hodnoty jejich aktivita nebo její nedostatek klade důraz a jak to působí na čtenářstvo. Práce je rozdělena tří částí ve kterých postupně představím kontextuální relevanci zkoumání literatury a pohádek z feministické perspektivy, následně představím základní teoretické koncepty, se kterými pracuji (vzdorné čtení, performativita genderu a hegemonní maskulinita) a prostřednictvím komparativní analýzy jednotlivé verze pohádky porovnám a zhodnotím. Analýza probíhá chronologicky s dějem, kdy v kontextu těch nejdůležitějších momentů příběhu zanalyzuji nejdříve verzi z 18. a následně verzi současnou.
