Vliv války v Afghánistánu na česko-americké vztahy mezi lety 2001-2008

Abstract

This thesis focuses on the impact of the war in Afghanistan on Czech-U.S. relations between 2001-2008. By analysis of relevant primary and secondary sources the thesis answers three research questions. Firstly, what was the impact of the war in Afghanistan on Czech-U.S. relations in the given period. Secondly, was there a continuity between 2001-2008 in bilateral relations with regards to the evolution of the war in Afghanistan. Thirdly, was the Czech Republic trying to use its engagement in Afghanistan to create a basis for a special relationship with the U.S. The analytical part of the thesis is divided into three main parts. The first part focuses on the period between 2001-2003 and it analyses the Czech reaction to the attacks of September 11 and the Czech role in the beginning of the War on Terror. The second part focuses on the period between 2004-2008 and it analyses the changes in Czech strategy for Afghanistan after the American invasion of Iraq and the activities of Czech special forces in the counter- terrorism Operation Enduring Freedom. The last part analyses the Czech-U.S. cooperation in the nation-building activities in Afghanistan and analysis the differences between American and Czech models of provincial reconstruction Teams. Bakalářská práce se zabývá vlivem války v Afghánistánu na česko-americké vztahy v období let 2001-2008. Pomocí analýzy relevantních primárních a sekundárních zdrojů práce zodpovídá tři hlavní výzkumné otázky. Zaprvé, jakým způsobem se podepsala válka v Afghánistánu na česko-americké vztahy v daném období. Zadruhé, zda existovala mezi lety 2001-2008 kontinuita bilaterálních vztahů s ohledem na vývoj války v Afghánistánu. Zatřetí, zda si ČR svým angažmá v Afghánistánu snažila vytvořit základ pro special relationship s USA. Analytická část práce je rozdělena na tři hlavní části. První část se věnuje období 2001-2003, ve kterém byl tématem zkoumání zejména český postoj k útokům z 11. září a počáteční role ČR ve válce proti teroru. Druhá část se zabývá obdobím 2004-2008 a věnuje se hlavně změnám v české strategii pro Afghánistán po americké invazi do Iráku a vysláním českých speciálních sil do protiteroristické operace Trvalá svoboda. Poslední část se poté věnuje česko-americké spolupráci při nation-building aktivitách v Afghánistánu a analyzuje rozdíly mezi americkým a českým přístupem k vedení provinčních rekonstrukčních týmů. Výzkum dokázal, že česko-americké aktivity ve válce v Afghánistánu měly pozitivní vliv na vývoj bilaterálních vztahů. ČR se svým angažmá v tomto konfliktu snažila vyplnit...
