In the theoretical part, we first focus on the anatomy and physiology of the large intestine and rectum, then we continue with colorectal cancer, its epidemiology, etiology and symptomatology. We also describe diagnostics, treatment and the nursing care of patients with colorectal cancer. Afterward, we adress health literacy, prevention and screening, as well as the educational process of colorectal cancer prevention in primary care. The theoretical part concludes with the prognosis of colorectal cancer. The empirical part consist of the results of our own quantitative non-standardized questionnaire survey. A total of 100 respondents, patients of general practitioners, participated in the research. V teoretické části se věnujeme zprvu anatomii a fyziologii tlustého střeva a konečníku, následně navazujeme kolorektálním karcinomem, jeho epidemiologií, etiologií a symptomatologií. Dále popisujeme diagnostiku, léčbu, ošetřovatelský proces o pacienta s kolorektálním karcinomem. Následně se věnujeme zdravotní gramotnosti, prevenci a screeningu a edukačnímu procesu prevence kolorektálního karcinomu v primární péči. Teoretickou část uzavíráme prognózou kolorektálního karcinomu. Empirická část je tvořena výsledky našeho kvantitativního nestandardizovaného dotazníkového šetření vlastní tvorby. Výzkumu se účastnilo celkem 100 respondentů, pacientů praktických lékařů. Dotazník se zaměřoval na povědomí o kolorektálním karcinomu, rizikové a protektivní faktory, prevenci, screening a na spokojenost s informacemi o kolorektálním karcinomu a jeho prevenci.
