Řeč stigmatu a její vliv na přijetí duševních onemocnění

Abstract

The thesis "The Speech of Stigma and Its Impact on the Acceptance of Mental Illness" examines the power of speech in shaping the perception of mental illness in the Czech context. The study is based on the hypothesis that the way speech is used in relation to mental illness influences its acceptance and inclusion in broader society. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on presenting approaches to speech and its role in constructing social reality, with an emphasis on concepts such as "people-first language," disability studies, and the mechanisms of stigma. It also explores the historical and symbolic image of mental illness and how negative stereotypes shape current public discourse. The empirical part of the thesis employs qualitative research, including discourse analysis of interviews with individuals with experience of mental illness and experts in the field of mental health. The findings show that the discourse of stigma is most prevalent in psychiatric institutions, media outlets, and interactions with doctors. The conclusion discusses the significance and challenges associated with the implementation of neutral speech in the field of mental health and recommends its sensitive use in a broader social context. Diplomová práce "Řeč stigmatu a její vliv na přijetí duševních onemocnění" zkoumá moc řeči při formování vnímání duševních onemocnění v českém prostředí. Práce vychází z hypotézy, že způsob, jakým je řeč používána v souvislosti s duševních onemocnění, ovlivňuje jejich přijetí a inkluzi v širší společnosti. Teoretická část práce se soustředí na představení přístupů k řeči a její roli při vytváření sociální reality, s důrazem na koncepty jako "people-first language", disability studies a mechanismy stigmatu. Dále se zaměřuje na historický a symbolický obraz duševních onemocnění, a na to, jak negativní stereotypy formují současnou veřejnou diskusi. Empirická část práce využívá kvalitativní výzkum, včetně diskurzivní analýzy rozhovorů s lidmi se zkušeností s duševním onemocněním a odborníky v oblasti duševního zdraví. Výsledky ukazují, že diskurz řeči stigmatu je nejvíce přítomný v psychiatrických institucích, v mediálních výstupech a v interakcích s lékaři. V závěru práce se diskutuje o významu a výzvách spojených s implementací neutrálního jazyka v oblasti duševního zdraví a doporučuje se jeho citlivé používání v širším sociálním kontextu. Dále se navrhuje, aby byly metody jako CARe (řeč zotavení), IPS a Open Dialogue v oblasti řeči podrobněji prozkoumány a začleněny do komunikace v dalších typech...
