Music-based therapy in neurodegenerative diseases

Abstract

Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na aplikaci hudební terapie u neurodegenerativních onemocnění. Hlavním cílem je systematicky shrnout současné poznatky v této oblasti. První kapitola práce se věnuje analýze základní problematiky týkající se neurodegenerativních poruch. Následující kapitoly přinášejí přehled různých forem hudební terapie a jejich specifických účinků na pacienty trpící neurodegenerativními onemocněními. Pátá kapitola je věnována systematickému review, které se zaměřuje konkrétně na receptivní hudební terapii u osob s demencí. Systematické review je provedeno podle PRISMA 2020 Statement. Výsledky této analýzy potvrzují pozitivní vliv hudební terapie na kognitivní funkce pacientů a na mírnění neuropsychiatrických symptomů demence. Přestože hudební terapie nabízí perspektivní nefarmakologickou alternativu v léčbě neurodegenerativních onemocnění, současný stav poznání v této oblasti vyžaduje další výzkum a zdokonalení metodologických postupů pro dosažení optimálních výsledků. The bachelor's thesis focuses on the application of music therapy in neurodegenerative diseases. Its main objective is to systematically summarize current knowledge in this field. The first chapter addresses the analysis of fundamental issues related to neurodegenerative disorders. Subsequent chapters provide an overview of various forms of music therapy and their specific effects on patients with neurodegenerative diseases. The fifth chapter is dedicated to a systematic review focusing specifically on receptive music therapy in individuals with dementia. The systematic review follows the PRISMA 2020 Statement. The results of this analysis confirm the positive impact of music therapy on cognitive functions and the mitigation of neuropsychiatric symptoms of dementia. While music therapy offers a promising non- pharmacological alternative in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, the current state of knowledge in this area necessitates further research and refinement of methodological approaches to achieve optimal outcomes.
