Abstract

Tato bakalářská práce se skládá ze dvou části - překladu a odborného komentáře. Předmětem první části je překlad vybraných úryvků z knihy Jasona Colavita The Legends of the Pyramids: Myths and Misconceptions about Ancient Egypt, vydané v roce 2021 americkým nakladatelstvím Red Lightning Books. Náplní druhé části práce je komentář, jenž sestává z analýzy výchozího textu z hlediska vnětextových a vnitrotextových faktorů, popisu zvolené metody překladu, typologie překladatelských problémů včetně příkladů jejich řešení a typologie překladatelských posunů, ke kterým v průběhu překladu došlo. This bachelor thesis is divided into two main parts: translation and its commentary. The first part includes a Czech translation of selected passages from Jason Colavito's book The Legends of the Pyramids: Myths and Misconceptions about Ancient Egypt released in 2021 by the American publishing house Red Lightning Books. The second part of this thesis presents a commentary on the translation, including a source-text analysis in terms of extratextual and intratextual factors, a description of the selected translation method, a typology of translation problems with examples of their solutions, and finally a typology of translation shifts occurring during the translation process.
