Aféra Windrush jako politický skandál

Abstract

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá institucionálními dopady Windrush skandálu po roce 2018 ve Velké Británii. Práce se nejprve zaměřuje na politický skandál jako teoretický koncept, který vytváří podklad pro analýzu případové studie. V rámci téže kapitoly se práce zmiňuje o příkladech politických skandálů z jiných prostředí a zmiňuje teze od vybraných autorů, kteří se zaměřují na fenomén skandálu. Dále se práce zabývá generací Windrush, odkud pochází a proč se jejich trvalá rezidence ve Velké Británii náhle změnila na ilegální. Práce poté popisuje důležitý zlom v rámci imigrační politiky Velké Británie, kdy v roce 2012 Theresa May vydala tzv. Hostile Environment, který měl snížit počet ilegálních migrantů v zemi. Navazující část upřesňuje samotný průběh skandálu, proces deportací, omezení přístupu ke zdravotnictví, bydlení, vzdělávání a práci. Skandál vyšel najevo v roce 2018 skrz média a novinové články. V praktické části práce je rozebírána problematika institucionálních změn, které proběhly následkem Windrush skandálu v rámci Home Office (Ministerstvo vnitra Velké Británie). Díky závěrům praktické práce tak lze poukázat na jednotlivé změny, které jsou pro lepší orientaci rozdělené do tří rovin: personální, procedurální a legislativní.

This undergraduate thesis examines the institutional implications of the Windrush scandal post-2018 in the UK. The thesis first focuses on the political scandal as a theoretical concept that forms the basis for the case study analysis. Within the same chapter, the thesis discusses examples of political scandal from other environments and discusses theses from selected authors who focus on the phenomenon of scandal in their books. Afterwards, the thesis investigates the Windrush generation, where they came from and why their permanent residency in the UK suddenly turned illegal. The thesis then describes an important turning point in the UK's immigration policy, when in 2012 Theresa May issued the so-called Hostile Environment, which was intended to reduce the number of illegal migrants in the country. A follow-up section details the scandal itself, the process of deportations, and restrictions on access to health, housing, education and work. The scandal came to light in 2018 through media and newspaper articles. The second half of the thesis discusses the institutional changes that have taken place as a result of the Windrush scandal within the Home Office.
