Abstract

in English The Concept of the Conquest in the Letters of Hernán Cortés and in the Writings of Bernal Díaz del Castillo Keywords: The Aztec Empire, Bernal Díaz del Castillo, colonization, conqueror, Hernán Cortés, conquest, the New World This bachelor's thesis deals with the portrayal of the Aztec Empire's conquest in two literary works from the 16th century, namely The Letters of Hernán Cortés and The True History of the Conquest of New Spain by Bernal Díaz del Castillo. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part deals with the historical context of the period of the discovery of the New World and focuses on the conquest of the Aztec Empire by the Spanish soldiers led by Hernán Cortés. The theoretical part is followed by the practical part, where the literary part is analysed. It relates the historical context to both works and provides basic biographical data of both authors. It also mentions the intentions they pursued in writing their works. The aim of this thesis is to find basic similarities and differences between the two works by comparing the findings.

v českém jazyce Pojetí konkvisty v dopisech Hernána Cortése a v díle Bernarda del Castillo Klíčová slova: Aztécká říše, Bernal Díaz del Castillo, dobyvatel, Hernán Cortés, kolonizace, konkvista, Nový svět Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá zobrazením konkvisty Aztécké říše ve dvou literárních dílech z období 16. století. Jedná se o Dopisy: druhý a třetí dopis o dobytí Tenochtitlánu od Hernána Cortése, dále pak o dílo Pravdivá historie dobývání Mexika od Bernala Díaze del Castillo. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a praktickou část. Teoretická část se zamýšlí nad historickým kontextem daného období, tj. objevení Nového světa a soustřeďuje se na dobytí Aztécké říše španělskými vojáky vedenými Hernánem Cortézem. Na teoretickou část navazuje část praktická, kde jsou obě díla analyzována, historický kontext je uveden do souvislostí s oběma díly, jsou uvedena základní biografická data autorů a v neposlední řadě jsou zmíněny záměry, které autoři při psaní svých děl sledovali a kterými byli ovlivňováni. Cílem práce je tedy prostřednictvím komparativní metodiky nalézat základní podobnosti nebo naopak odlišnosti získaných poznatků.
