Proměny každodennosti Erasmus studentů v anglickém Durhamu v době pandemie COVID-19

Abstract

This thesis explores the transformations in the everyday lives of Erasmus students during their study placement in Durham in the academic year 2021/2022. The aim of the thesis is to explore whether and to what extent the Erasmus students' departure and everyday lives were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, how and through what strategies they coped with the changing conditions and anti-coronavirus measures in the UK, and what other risks they experienced during their stay. The theoretical part firstly focuses on everyday life, then on migration, its types and migrant students, and finally on international education, also its types and where Erasmus mobility fits into international education. The thesis is based on ethnographic research, especially participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and auto-ethnography. The interpretation of the data thus suggests that Erasmus students were in a way affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, particularly during their arrival in the UK. Their actual stay was not so much affected, as there was first an acceptance of the measures and then a loosening of the antiviral measures. Tato diplomová práce se zabývá proměnami každodennosti Erasmus studentů na jejich studijním pobytu v Durhamu v akademickém roce 2021/2022. Cílem práce je zjistit, zda a nakolik byl výjezd a každodenní život Erasmus studentů ovlivněn pandemií Covid-19, jakým způsobem a pomocí jakých strategií se vyrovnávali s měnícími se podmínkami a protikoronavirovými opatřeními ve Velké Británii, a jaká další rizika během svého pobytu pociťovali. Teoretická část se věnuje nejprve tématu každodennosti, posléze migraci, jejím typům a migrujícím studentům, a nakonec mezinárodnímu vzdělávání, rovněž jeho typům a tomu, kam se do mezinárodního vzdělávání řadí Erasmus studijní pobyty. Práce je postavena na etnografickém výzkumu, především pak na zúčastněném pozorování, polostrukturovaných rozhovorech a autoetnografii. Z interpretace dat tak vyplývá, že Erasmus studenti byli ovlivněni pandemií Covid-19 a to především během jejich příjezdu do Velké Británie. Jejich samotný pobyt již tolik poznamenán nebyl, neboť došlo nejdříve ke smíření se s opatřeními a posléze k uvolnění protikoronavirových opatření. Kromě Covidu-19 jejich pobyt významně ovlivnilo rovněž genderově podmíněné násilí.
