Tlumočení mezi češtinou a němčinou v Habsburské monarchii v letech 1740-1918

Abstract

The subject of this thesis is interpreting in the Habsburg Monarchy between 1740 and 1918. The aim is to analyse the communicative situations in which interpreting may have taken place in the space and time being studied. The whole issue will be tackled from the perspective of the language pair in question, that is Czech and German. This thesis consists of three parts. In the first part, we will introduce the context of the Habsburg Monarchy, focus on the definition of interpreting as an activity and as a profession, and then define the various factors that affect the presence of interpreting in the given context. In the second part, we will apply these factors to the reality of the Habsburg Monarchy and to individual communicative situations. The output of the second part will determine in which areas interpreting between Czech and German occurred and whether we can consider it to be a profession or not. In the final part of this thesis, we will focus on one area in which interpretating between Czech and German occurred most frequently in the given period and present it in greater detail.

Předmětem této diplomové práce je tlumočení v habsburské monarchii mezi lety 1740 a 1918. Cílem je analyzovat komunikační situace, v nichž ve zkoumaném prostoru a období mohlo docházet k tlumočení. Zkoumaný jazykový pár je čeština-němčina, jehož prizmatem tak na celou problematiku pohlížíme. Práce se skládá ze tří částí. V první části představíme kontext habsburské monarchie, zaměříme se na definici tlumočení jako činnosti a profese a následně definujeme jednotlivé faktory, které ovlivňují přítomnost tlumočení. V druhé části tyto faktory aplikujeme na realitu habsburské monarchie a jednotlivé komunikační situace. Výstupem druhé části bude určení, v jakých oblastech docházelo k tlumočení mezi češtinou a němčinou a zda se jednalo o profesi, či nikoliv. V závěrečné části této práce se zaměříme na jednu oblast, v níž ve zkoumaném období nejčastěji docházelo k tlumočení mezi češtinou a němčinou, a představíme ji podrobněji.
