Problematika překladu titulků na materiálu televizního seriálu Chytit Kajdaše (Spіjmati Kajdaša)

Abstract

The master thesis The Issue of Translating Subtitles on the Material of the Television Series To Catch the Kaidash (Спіймати Кайдаша) deals with the analysis and determining the strategy of translation of the TV series To Catch the Kaidash into Czech. The series is specific in that it is a modern adaptation of the classic work of Ukrainian literature, The Kaidash Family (Кайдашева сім'я, written in 1878) by Ivan Nechui-Levyts'kyi: events from the late 19th century are transposed to the years 2004-2014. The series retains and extends the issues of the original work, and the language is rich in elements of surzhyk, dialect, archaic lexis, local realia, literary quotations, and allusions. The first part of the thesis deals with the reception and the question of the success of the series in Ukraine. The second part focuses on determining the translation strategy for the material of selected excerpts from the series. The aim of the thesis is to examine the issues of translation of the given series and to determine the most appropriate strategy. Diplomová práce Problematika překladu titulků na materiálu televizního seriálu Chytit Kajdaše (Спіймати Кайдаша) se zabývá analýzou a určením strategie překladu televizního seriálu Chytit Kajdaše do češtiny. Tento seriál je specifický tím, že je moderní adaptací klasického díla ukrajinské literatury Kajdašova rodina (Кайдашева сім'я, naps. 1878) Ivana Nečuje-Levyckého: události z konce 19. století jsou přenesené do období roku 2004 až 2014. V seriálu je zachována a rozšířena problematika původního díla, jazyková stránka je bohatá na prvky suržyku, dialekt, archaická lexika, místní reálie, literární citace a aluze. V první části se práce věnuje recepci a otázce úspěšnosti seriálu na Ukrajině. Druhá část se zaměřuje na určení strategie překladu na materiálu vybraných úryvků ze seriálu.
