Korejská kartografie - Čosŏn v kontextu regionu od 14. do 19. století

Abstract

This thesis analyses Korean maps made by Koreans during the Chosŏn kingdom period from its beginning until the arrival of protestant missionaries to the Korean peninsula, which is when Korea was exposed to the direct influence of the western sciences. The first part of this thesis introduces the topics of cartography, the history of cartography, korean cartography during the Chosŏn period and the wider cartographic contexts in the East Asia region. The second part contains the analysis of the maps which depict Chosŏn in the regional context, that is, world or regional maps and maps of the border areas. The purpose of the analysis is to understand how the maps reflect Korean perception of the world and of the region Chosŏn is a part of during the time of their creation and which art genres, political relations with neighbouring countries and religious or philosophical beliefs are expressed in the maps.

Tato práce analyzuje korejské mapy vytvořené Korejci v době království Čosŏn od jeho počátku do příchodu protestantských misionářů na Korejský poloostrov, kdy byla Korea vystavena přímému vlivu západních věd. První část práce uvádí do tematiky kartografie, historie kartografie, korejské kartografie v období království Čosŏn a širšího kartografického kontextu v regionu východní Asie. Druhá část se věnuje analýze map Čosŏnu v kontextu regionu, tedy světových či regionálních map a map hraničních oblastí. Účelem této analýzy je porozumění tomu, jak zvolené mapy reflektují korejské vnímání světa a svého regionu v době, kdy byly vytvořeny, a jaké umělecké žánry, politické vztahy se sousedními státy a náboženská či filozofická přesvědčení se na nich projevují.
