The impacts of cultural heritage destruction on local communities during war conflicts. A case study of Palmyra.

Abstract

in English Targeting and destroying cultural heritage sites by armed terrorist groups has significant negative repercussions for both heritage sites and the population. The population's emotional aspects towards acts of violence, destruction, and looting of cultural heritage sites are among the most severe repercussions of these terrorist acts. The presented thesis provides the theoretical frameworks of emotional cultural heritage aspects and cultural heritage sites in danger and explains the population trauma resulting from the destruction of their cultural heritage and their emotional aspects towards this destruction. The thesis presents a case study of the ancient city of Palmyra, the core of the thesis is to study the emotional aspects of the population towards the destruction of their cultural heritage in Palmyra, which were included and analyzed through a set of interviews. The outcomes of these interviews outline how emotional cultural heritage has shaped the population's perception of this destruction by showing the extent of their attachment to their local cultural heritage and how they expressed emotions of sadness, anger, and optimism for the future. v českem jazyce Zaměření na památky kulturního dědictví a jejich ničení ozbrojenými teroristickými skupinami má významné negativní dopady jak na památky, tak na obyvatelstvo. Emocionální aspekty obyvatelstva vůči násilným činům, ničení a drancování míst kulturního dědictví patří mezi nejzávažnější důsledky těchto teroristických činů. Předkládaná práce poskytuje teoretický rámec aspektů emočního kulturního dědictví a ohrožených míst kulturního dědictví a vysvětluje populační traumata vyplývající z ničení jejich kulturního dědictví a jejich emoční aspekty vůči této destrukci. Práce představuje případovou studii starověkého města Palmýra, Jádrem práce je studium emocionálních aspektů populace vůči ničení jejich kulturního dědictví v Palmýře, které byly zahrnuty a analyzovány prostřednictvím souboru rozhovorů.
