Překladatelský projekt Tschechische Bibliothek v dějinách překladu

Abstract

This thesis deals with the Tschechische Bibliothek project in the context of sociology and the history of translation. Tschechische Bibliothek is a German-language library of Czech literature comprising 33 books published between 1999 and 2007 by the publishing house Deutsche Verlags-Anstalt as a project of the Robert Bosh Foundation (Robert Bosch Stiftung). The aim of this thesis is to map the process of the library's creation from the project's inception, selection of works and publishing policy in the publishing house DVA through the work with the texts (translations, editing, proofreading, paratexts), their subsequent editing (graphic design, typesetting, printing) and dealing with the finished books (promotion, funding) to the reception of the library in both the German-speaking and Czech environments. In pursuing this aim, this thesis focuses above all on the fields of sociology of translation (the influence of the individual participants on the process of creating the library) and the history of translation (the influence of contemporary translation norms and conventions on the work of translators and editors). Tato práce se zabývá projektem Tschechische Bibliothek v kontextu sociologie a dějin překladu. Tschechische Bibliothek je německojazyčná edice české literatury čítající 33 knih vydávaných v letech 1999-2007 v nakladatelství Deutsche Verlags-Anstalt jako projekt Nadace Roberta Bosche (Robert Bosch Stiftung). Cílem této práce je zmapovat proces vzniku edice od vzniku projektu, výběru děl a nakladatelské politiky v nakladatelství DVA přes práci s texty (překlady, redakce, korektury, paratexty), jejich následnou úpravu (grafika, sazba, tisk) a práci s hotovými knihami (propagace, financování) až po recepci edice v německojazyčném a českém prostředí. Při sledování tohoto cíle se práce zaměřuje zejména na oblasti sociologie překladu (vliv jednotlivých aktérů na proces vzniku edice) a dějin překladu (vliv dobových překladatelských norem a konvencí na práci překladatelů a redaktorů). K výzkumu je použita metoda orální historie, dále také dotazníky a rešerše. Teoretickými východisky práce jsou zejména manipulační teorie (A. Lefevere) a praxeologie (A. Popovič) pro oblast sociologie překladu a dílo J. Levého a A. Popoviče týkající se dějin překladu.
