Filigrány v díle Tiskaře Pražské bible

Abstract

The aim of this thesis was a detailed research of watermarks in the work of the Printer of the Prague Bible. The watermarks should serve as a contribution to a future catalogue of watermarks in Bohemian prints. The source of the watermarks are folio formats of titles printed by the Printer of the Prague Bible, which are in the possession of the National Library in Prague. The theoretical part of the thesis outlines the history of European papermaking and basic information about the reasons for the introduction of watermarks into papermaking. It also briefly introduces filigranology as a discipline and its state in the Czech Republic, and gives a number of examples of practical applications of filigranology. It also describes the methods of visualising watermarks, the rules for recording them and the reasons that led to the selection of the sample for the survey. The watermarks were recorded using the tracing paper method. While this method did not allow us to clearly identify absolutely all close variants, it served well to identify sheets suitable for further work with a more precise visualization method. Cílem této diplomové práce byl zevrubný průzkum filigránů v díle Tiskaře Pražské bible. Nalezené průsvitky by měly posloužit jako příspěvek k budoucímu katalogu filigránů v bohemikálních tiscích. Zdrojem filigránů jsou foliové formáty titulů vytištěných Tiskařem Pražské bible, které jsou ve vlastnictví Národní knihovny. Teoretická část práce nastiňuje historii evropského papírenství a základní informace o důvodech zavedení filigránů do papírenské výroby. Také stručně seznamuje s filigránologií jako vědním oborem a jeho stavem v ČR, a uvádí řadu příkladů praktického využití filigránologie. Dále popisuje metody vizualizace průsvitek, pravidla pro jejich zaznamenávání a důvody, které vedly k výběru vzorku pro průzkum. Průsvitky byly zaznamenány pauzovací metodou. Tato metoda sice neumožnila jednoznačně určit naprosto všechny blízké varianty, dobře však posloužila k určení archů vhodných pro další práci s preciznější vizualizační metodou. V rámci průzkumu byly od každého titulu porovnány nejméně dva výtisky a rozložení průsvitek v jednotlivých exemplářích bylo graficky znázorněno v přehledových tabulkách. Relativně nízká diverzita filigránů v Pražské bibli podporuje předpoklad, že Tiskař Pražské bible vstupoval do řemesla s dobrou kapitálovou podporou. Ze sledovaných titulů se největší rozmanitostí...
