Podoba a dilemata Pákistánské imigrace ve Velké Británii

Abstract

Práce pojednává o podobě a konfliktních tématech pákistánské imigrace ve Velké Británii. Pákistánská imigrace přicházela do Velké Británie od 50. let, ale až v 80. letech se stala relevantní politickou otázkou, kvůli nárůstům požadavků menšin. Protože jde o etnikum, jejichž zvyky, kultura a hlavně náboženství se rapidně odlišují od britského stylu života, budí ve společnosti neklid a nespokojenost. Práce sama se věnuje především obrazu komunity. Bere na zřetel měnící se styl života tří generací. Vycházím z toho, že pro velkou část muslimů je islám vším, prostupuje celý jejich život. První část práce se odvíjí od teoretického přístupu k integraci a imigraci a předkládá jejich modely. Velká Británie podle všeho představuje "rozdvojenýll model, podle kterého je žádoucí, aby přistěhovalci navenek ctili anglickou instituci a kulturu, ale v soukromí se mohou držet své tradice. V druhé, nejrozsáhlejší části se zaměřuji na vzdělávání, zaměstnání a náboženský život, který je specifický a pestrý, protože odráží hnutí a trendy přejaté z Pákistánu. Podtrhuji zejména specifické náboženské požadavky muslimů, které jsou ve střetu s britskou a západní společností. Ve třetí části se píše především o negativních aspektech života, kterému jsou Pákistánci ve Velké Británii vystaveni. Jde nejen o fyzické napadání a islamofobní...

This thesis is about the current situation and dilemma of Pakistani immigration in Great Britain. It started in the 1950's but it didn't become a relevant political question until the 1980's, because of minorities' growing requirements. Due to the differences in habits, culture and religion from the British lifestyle, it creates anxiety and disatisfaction in the society. This thesis is focused mainly on communuty identity. It considers the changing lifestyle of three generations. For muslims, Islam is everything and it pervades their entire lives. The first part of this thesis is rather theoretical and introduces several different model s of integration and immigration. Great Britain represents a bifurcationist model, in which immigrants are supposed to respect english institutions and culture, but still may follow their tradidtions in their private lives. The second part is focused on education, employment and religious life, which is specific and rich, because it reflects movements and trends coming from Pakistan. Emphasis is given mainly to the requirements specifically related to religion which conflicts with british and western society.
